BalticMiles Member Wins One Million Points

2010-02-04

airBaltic’s BalticMiles member Ilze Gelnere received one million BalticMiles points from the airline as part of its loyalty programme. Ilze will be able to use the points over the next three years to purchase flights and other BalticMiles products for herself, her friends and relatives.

airBaltic Chief Commercial Officer Tero Taskila: “BalticMiles is the first loyalty programme which covers all three Baltic States, and over the course of less than four months, we have attracted nearly 100,000 clients to it. We will continue to develop the BalticMiles loyalty programme so as to make sure that the new currency that is BalticMiles points can be used with various vendors such as petrol stations, grocery stores, dry-cleaners, and so on.”

Ilze Gelnere became the BalticMiles millionaire in a lottery that was organised for those BalticMiles participants who signed up for the programme by December 31. Ilze and her friends will be able to use the points to go to the cinema 1,000 times or take nearly 100 free flights to airBaltic destinations in Western Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean and the CIS.

BalticMiles is the first loyalty programme to bring together a number of companies in the Baltic States. It was launched in October 2009, and at this time, the programme has the following partners – Nordea, Latvijas Mobilais Telefons, Reval Hotels, ESPA Riga, Islande Hotel, SAS, Sixt, Eurolines, LSG Sky Chefs, airBalticTravel.com, Līvu Akvaparks and Forum Cinemas. BalticMiles is an open loyalty programme – an unlimited number of partners from various sectors can join it.

BalticMiles members can spend their points to take airBaltic flights, make payments with the BalticMiles MasterCard that is issued by Nordea, pay for Latvijas Mobilais Telefons services, stay at Reval Hotels or the Islande Hotel, enjoy treatments at ESPA Riga, rent a car from Sixt, take Eurolines/LUX Express buses, fly on SAS, order food from the airCafe menu for flights on airBaltic, make purchases on airBalticTravel.com, go to the movies at Forum Cinemas, or enjoy more active entertainment at the Līvu Akvaparks water park.

Clients can sign up for the BalticMiles programme by filling out an application form. It can be found in the Baltic Outlook in-flight magazine, at all airBaltic ticket offices, at registration desks, or in the business lounge at the Riga International Airport. People can also apply for the programme at www.balticmiles.com, or by ringing the airBaltic call centre.
