Estonian Air to close Paris route earlier than planned2009-07-16
Last flight on disappointing route will take place on October 1
Estonian Air has announced that it plans to close its route to Paris sooner than anticipated. The last flight will take place on October 1. The route, operated only twice a week, had been due to continue until October 25. Rauno Parras, the airline’s deputy commercial director, explained: “Paris is a seasonal route that will be closed sooner than planned due to smaller demand for vacation trips. Alternative options will be offered to passengers who have tickets to canceled flights.” Estonian Air CEO Andrus Aljas has already said that the Paris route has been disappointing. “We sold it long in advance and in France there were many groups that wanted to make a pan-Baltic tour, to come to Tallinn and leave from Vilnius or vice versa. Today these groups have gone since nobody is flying to Paris now that flyLAL has disappeared in Vilnius. Something that doesn’t depend on us will hit us seriously,” he said.
