Travel agencies take initiative in Latvia


State tourism marketing to be developed in cooperation with professionals

There have been long discussions regarding the coordination of Latvia’s image and marketing, reports the Latvian newspaper Dienas Bizness. The State Tourism Development Agency has defined the promotion of Latvia in foreign tourism markets and the positioning of Latvia’s image as its main priorities. Irena Riekstina, director of Kaleva Travel in Latvia, says that the idea to create an independent board consisting of eight experts within the State Tourism Development Agency has been supported. The creation of a board will ease the strategic planning of the agency and provide the owners of travel agencies, hotels and restaurants with a possibility to offer professional suggestions for the development of incoming tourism and the promotion of Latvia’s recognition in the world.
