Dutch fashion tycoon buys Three Sisters hotel2009-07-08
Purchase agreement with previous owner Tarmo Sumberg signed months ago
A Dutch fashion tycoon has bought the upmarket Three Sisters hotel in the heart of Tallinn. Johannes Wientjes, the owner of Fashion Palace, a global brand fashion chain with a store in Tallinn, reportedly came to a purchase agreement with the previous owner, Tarmo Sumberg, several months ago. "There is nothing to comment on the other hotels," Sumberg said, leaving questions unanswered concerning the search for investors to support his other hotels operating under the Legendijuhtimine AS (Legend Hotels) partnership. These include Tallinn's Telegraaf, the Albert in Riga and spas in Tallinn and Kuuressaare. Wientjes promised to improve the quality of service in the legendary Three Sisters and to set up a “wine lane” (located in the inner courtyard) as a winter garden for the colder season, adding a roof that can be retracted in summer. He further promised to bring in wealthy Russian tourists to the Old Town. Meanwhile, Aivar Soerd of TLG Hotell, a company that operates the Tallink Group capital hotels, said that the bulk of guests in Tallink’s hotels are Scandinavian cruise tourists, while a significant portion make their reservations on the Internet.
