Hostels become more popular in recession2009-07-03
Turnover of international hostel reservation system increases by 22%
In the first five months of 2009, the turnover of the international hostel reservation system hihostels.com increased by 22% in comparison with the same period last year, says Armands Muiznieks, a representative of Hi Hostels in Latvia. The economic crisis affects travellers’ choices about where to spend the night and how much money to spend on particular services. The latest data show that more and more tourists are opting to stay in hostels rather than hotels. In Europe, a tourist spends EUR 22 on average for a one-night stay in a hostel.
