Lithuanians are travelling less in 20092009-06-30
They’re also spending a lot less, statistics say
According to preliminary data released by Lithuania’s Department of Statistics, the number of local tourists travelling abroad for at least one night fell by 16.2 percent in Q1 2009, compared with the same period in 2008, while the number of tourists taking one-day trips decreased by 13.6 percent. Lithuanian tourists spent LTL 357.5 million abroad in Q1 2009, a plunge of 47 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, local tourists travelling within Lithuania spent LTL 62.3 million in the first quarter, a decrease of 19 percent.
