Estonia uses grand performance in Helsinki2009-05-12
More than 200,000 due to attend event to attract Finns for return visits
White tents and “Visitestonia” ads flapping proudly in the wind have conquered Senaatintori, the most important square in Helsinki, Postimees writes. Promotion booths for Estonia’s spa hotels and tourist information stands, Estonian foodstuffs and beer, souvenirs, handicrafts and ceramics – all these were on offer at this major promotional event in the Finnish capital over the weekend. According to Mart Sander, in charge of the event, more than 200,000 visitors were expected to visit the stands over two days. When Sander asked the audience whether there was anyone who had not yet visited Estonia, only one hand was raised. Minister of Economy Juhan Parts opened the event and took the floor to express his hope that this one Finn would also one day find his way to Estonia.
