More freedom for Russians to visit Lithuania2009-04-23
Embassy official also suggests marketing health tourism
Lithuanian embassies in Russia and Belarus have eased visa procedures for citizens planning to visit Lithuania. But Mindaugas Grigas, third secretary at the Embassy of Lithuania in the Russian Federation, is not optimistic that this will on its own lure many tourists. "The eased visa regime alone will not bring back tourists, since the main reason preventing them from travelling is the economic recession," he says. According to him, health and wellness tourism is one of the most promising areas that could attract lots of tourists, from Russia and elsewhere.
