Swedish airline to bridge gap to Stockholm2009-04-21
New routes between Vilnius and Amsterdam, Stockholm and Berlin
The Swedish airline Skyways is to launch direct flights between Vilnius and Berlin, Amsterdam and Stockholm from May 18. "These destinations have been selected according to strategic tasks outlined by the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications as well as according to passenger flows," said Tomas Vaisvila, managing director of Vilnius International Airport. “Amsterdam, Stockholm and Copenhagen are traditionally some of Europe’s biggest transit hubs. All flights will head to these cities’ major airports.” Tadas Vizgirda, vice president of airBaltic, which recently cancelled its Vilnius-Stockholm route, commented: “They will revive the flights to Stockholm that were cancelled because they did not pay off. Demand decreased due to the economic crisis.”
