Guides speak out against churches in disrepair2009-04-15
Statement urges public to stop further neglect in Vilnius
On the second day of Easter, guides in Vilnius urged the public to support the neglected Church of the Holy Trinity, which stands in a quiet courtyard beyond the Baroque Basilian Gate. "Probably the biggest impression on foreign tourists in Vilnius’ Old Town is made by the abundance of churches and the harmony between buildings of different religions," the collective statement read. “Unfortunately, due to lack of care and minimum funding, we will soon have nothing to be proud of or surprise tourists with, since most of the churches in Vilnius are in disrepair.”
