Five airlines depart RIX during winter season 2009-03-16
Five airlines – Germanwings, Austrian Airlines, Aer Lingus, easyJet and the now bankrupt flyLAL – no longer offer flights to/from Riga airport, having left the Latvian market during the winter season with no plans to return, Dienas Bizness writes. The airport comments that the complicated situation in the aviation market and the economic slowdown are the reasons behind the departures. One airline, Windjet, is new to the market; it is due to launch flights between Latvia and Italy in June. Twelve airlines currently fly to Riga.
