Changes in Jurmala “resort tax” introduced 2009-02-16
Officials in Jurmala have decided to change the so-called “resort tax” imposed on incoming visitors as they enter the town. They collected LVL 75,000 (EUR 107,000) in 2008, money that was then used for the marketing of the resort. The tax, which has for many years amounted to LVL 1 for each vehicle entering the town, is not being imposed this year from January 1 to March 31. Instead, the places of accommodation hosting tourists will be charged the tax. From May 1 to September 30, the daily tax will be LVL 0.25 per person and at all other times LVL 0.15 per person.
