flyLAL to continue to pursue lawsuit against airBaltic 2009-01-27
The Lithuanian airline flyLAL has filed an application for bankruptcy, but it says that it will continue to sue airBaltic. Last September, flyLAL asked a court in Lithuania to recover what it said were losses caused by airBaltic’s pricing policy, arguing that its rival was competing at Vilnius Airport using the discounts given to it by Riga Airport. Vytautas Kaikaris, flyLAL’s general director, informed a gathering of the press in Vilnius that the company was looking for all possible ways to continue working as a scheduled airline – it is continuing charter flight operations – but since it could no longer perform scheduled flights and could no longer find a way to renew the company’s responsibilities, it had been forced to file for bankruptcy.
