2008 brings record passenger growth at Kaunas Airport2009-01-14
Around 410,000 passengers used Kaunas Airport in 2008, a 5 percent increase over 2007. The second largest airport in Lithuania got a new passenger terminal in 2008, had its parking areas doubled, apron extended and the start of a “10-year Masterplan”. In 2008, external private investors were invited to tender for new development projects as well as the signing of a long-term cooperation contract with La Centrale Airport Group for the development of the airport’s infrastructure and new passenger and cargo routes. General Manager Arijandas Sliupas commented: "The passenger growth momentum has continued and looks promising for 2009, as it does for the continued implementation of our development plans". Projects in 2009 include taxiway construction, the development of an aircraft maintenance base and the construction of business and general aviation hangars.
