VAT events a shock to Latvian hotels 2009-01-09
Vita Jermolovica, director of the Hotel Konventa Seta in Riga’s Old Town, says that the abrupt rise in VAT for hotels in Latvia is shocking. The hotel’s budget for the coming year had already been planned and agreements with suppliers signed. Meanwhile, due to the global economic difficulties, both Latvian and foreign companies are organizing less conferences. Now Latvia will be the second most expensive country in Europe by VAT.
