Decline may turn into golden age for tourism2009-01-07
Mr Burgdorff is convinced that the crisis may have a positive effect on the tourism market, as the current enormous prices will go down in some places. Actually, the prices were too high not in Lithuania, but in Latvia. Having returned from a meeting of Baltic tourism specialists in Vilnius, Mr Burgdorff was glad that he came to an understanding with the new heads of the Tourism Department. According to Mr Burgdorff, German tourists are attracted to Lithuania by the country's good name: "Baltic States have good reputation in Germany. On the one hand, they preserve traditions, and on the other hand, they are dynamic and fast-growing markets. So far Germans have been visiting Lithuania mostly for historic reasons."
