Tallink demands millions from Finland after ruling 2008-12-18
Helsinki Administrative Court has ruled that the State of Finland has violated European Union regulations by demanding navigation fees that are different for Finnish ships and those belonging to foreign countries. This has given several companies, including Tallink, the right to re-claim the excessive amounts. The Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat writes that Tallink wants to get back EUR 10-20 million. Board member Keijo Mehtonen adds that initially the claim submitted involves only the years 2005-2006. The enterprise is planning to look back as far as 1997.
