Anu Hallik, communications director at the shipping repairs company BLRT Group, writes that the principal service sectors that guarantee employment and create wealth on a global level are financial services, IT, tourism and entertainment. Tourism is not an economic sector that creates much added value, he says, and with such a small population as Estonia’s it cannot be of key importance. Flights are already operated more from Riga than from Tallinn. Estonia’s development is based mostly on exports of modern industrial production, he says.
