This article profiles Aiga Petkevica, project manager and head of the Tourism Development and Environment Management Department at the company NK, an independent consulting firm. The Kurzeme Tourism Association awarded her the local prize Great Jekabs 2008 for her substantial input into tourism development in Kurzeme. In fact, Petkevica devises tourism projects right across Latvia. One of her greatest early successes was the establishment of the Tukums District Tourist Information Centre in 1994 and the very first steps toward offering a public tourism service in Kurzeme.
