Hotel business faces ruin with VAT hike2008-12-12
In another reaction to the Latvian government’s desperate plan to raise VAT in order to stabilize the economy, Santa Graikste, executive director of the Latvian Hotel and Restaurant Association, says that an increase from 5 percent to 21 percent would negatively affect the development of the sector. Foreign investors, she adds, could leave Latvia altogether.
