Among all non-sea resort towns, Druskininkai offers the most entertainment: there are seventeen hotels, eight SPA sanatoriums, a water entertainment park, etc. Both Birstonas and Druskininkai organize numerous events before the major holidays. Meanwhile, the head of Zarasai tourism information center is very straightforward about entertainments and winter tourism at the resort: "We are heavily dependent on winter. Winter is needed both for skiing tracks and for the traditional horse race on the Lake of Sartai." Zarasai cannot offer any modern or impressive entertainments, but rural tourism attracts many people to the region in winter.
