Autumn brings over 20% more visitors to Tartu2008-11-24
The number of people staying in accommodation in Tartu grew by 13 percent (to 121,000) during the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2007. Half of them were Estonian residents. The number of domestic tourists grew by 10 percent, the number of foreign tourists by 15 percent. The number from Finland was the highest (25,000), followed by Germany (8,500) and Latvia (4,000). The biggest increase was from Russia. In Estonia overall in September, the number of overnights fell by nearly 7 percent, in Tartu by 23 percent (in August, the figure for Tartu was 28 percent).
