“Travel in the Baltics” campaign to launch in July2008-07-01
This summer, guesthouses in rural Latvia, which were so recently appearing like mushrooms after the rain, are now half empty because of the country’s economic slowdown. The reasons that keep Latvians from travelling are financial constraints (40%), a lack of time (21%), lack of interest (15%) and “other causes” (24%). In July, the joint-Baltic tourism development agencies – the tourist boards from each country – will initiate a campaign called “Travel in the Baltics”. The main objective is to urge people who live in the three Baltic countries to travel more throughout the region.
