Tallink execs earn the most2008-07-01
A comparison of Estonian companies shows that Tallink pays the most money to its executives. On average, its executives earned more than EEK 400,000 (EUR 65,560) a month. In total, Tallink paid its executives EEK 22.4 million, a figure that includes annual bonuses and severance pay. Tallink Group refuses to disclose how much its executives earned in precise figures last year. “Our salaries are confidential,“ explained Toivo Ninnas, chairman of Tallink’s supervisory board. This has angered small shareholders who have purchased the company’s stock but seen its share price plummet. “They do not deserve to earn EEK 400,000 a month,“ says Peeter Laurson, whose company GreenDorp owns shares in Tallink. Estonia’s second-highest earning executives work at the civil and infrastructure construction company Eesti Ehitus (average of EEK 250,000 a month) and third at property developer Arco Vara (EEK 224,000).
