Reconstruction on the former building of the Agroprojekts research institute on the corner of Maskavas and Dzirnavu Streets in Riga will begin this coming autumn. It will be turned into a 3-star, 200-room hotel. MIG Holdings company is planning to invest EUR 10 million in the project. This will be the third quality hotel in the so-called “Moscow” suburb after the Hanza Hotel and Dodo Hotel. MIG Holdings also plans to open a 4- or 5-star hotel on Smilsu Street. According to data from the Latvian Association of Hotels and Restaurants, seven new hotels are planned for openings in Riga in 2008. Some 400 places of accommodation are currently available in Latvia.
