Poor understanding about cycling tourism2008-06-06
Although there is substantial demand for bicycles in Latvia, cycle tourism is not yet fully developed. However, the cycling season will last until September and it is time for cyclists to choose their routes. According to the Lauku Celotajs rural tourism association, there are more than 60 cycle routes in Latvia. These are meant both for vacationers and for those who enjoy active sports. Year by year, cycling competitions are better attended, as Rolands Melbardis, director of the Ezi active tourism centre, testifies. He points out that cycling is hindered both by needlessly aggressive drivers and by poorly surfaced roads.
