airBaltic ready to launch Riga-Sochi2008-05-30
airBaltic will launch direct flights from Riga to the Russian resort town of Sochi on June 18. Initially flights will be offered twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. “Sochi is a wonderful destination, because it offers all types of recreation, whether they involve swimming, skiing, beaches or mountains. We are delighted at this new route, which supplements airBaltic’s network of routes to the east,” said airBaltic President and CEO Bertolt Flick. Riga-Sochi is actually not a new route, but a renewed one. Regular flights on the route were available until the beginning of the 1990s. Sochi is a Russian resort town famous for its mineral springs and medicinal muds, which stretches 145 km along the Black Sea coast. It has more than 227 treatment and leisure facilities, as well as hotels and well-established tourist institutions.
