Liepaja Naval Port Prison opens new season2008-05-27
The much written about Liepaja Naval Port Prison (Karosta) has opened a new tourist season allowing tourists to feel like abused criminals for a few hours. This year the hosts of the “prison hotel” are providing audio guides that will tell something about the history of the building and lead them through its dark corridors. It is possible to wear military uniforms and get photos taken of them. Visitors can spend a night in a cell, take part in the Behind the Bars reality show or the spy game Escape from the USSR, or they can go on an excursion along the North Forts. Last year, the Guardian newspaper listed the attraction as being among the best “prison-themed hotels around the world”, coverage that has inspired a large number of visits from the UK.
