Verslo Zinios: Latvian government assists airBaltic2008-05-08
flyLAL accuses airBaltic of carrying passengers from Vilnius at a higher price than passengers from Riga, this article says. This is not the first warning that refers to competition concerns related to airBaltic. Previously, the Latvian Competition Council declared that Riga International Airport was applying an illegitimate airport tax discount system that benefited only airBaltic and one other airline. Such a discount policy was approved by the Latvian Government. Meanwhile, flyLAL’s ambitious plans to build a private passenger terminal at Vilnius International Airport are still in deadlock. The terminal, which the airline says could serve 5.5 million people a year and could be built in 15 months, is not accepted by the airport.
