EUR 157,440 to send home cruise tourists2008-05-08
Dealing with the Mona Lisa cruise liner with 984 passengers that ran aground in the Irbe Strait on Sunday morning has proved to be a costly business. Giving accommodation to these passengers in Riga and then taking them back to Germany will cost about EUR 157,440. The passengers were accommodated at the Radisson SAS Daugava, Reval Hotel Latvija, Reval Hotel Ridzene and Reval Hotel Elizabete. It is not yet clear why the Bahamas-registered vessel, which is operated by the German tour operator Lord Nelson-Seereisen, ran aground.
