Today, 19 January, RIGA International Airport welcomes the first regular flight of the Belarusian national carrier Belavia from Minsk to Riga.

The Latvian national airline airBaltic informed the media today as to its vision about the future development of the Rīga International Airport and the need for a new terminal.

You should know that:

• The substances and items restricted from carriage in the hand baggage can now be left in the store-room and reclaimed after return to the airport.
• Service available: wrapping of bags.
• In low air temperatures the personnel of aircraft stands provide first technical aid to vehicles in car parks P1, P2 and P3.
• You can rent a car cover at the car park P3.
• Soon the gifts of RIGA International Airport will be available in the Arrivals Sector E.
• Clients of the VIP Centre can buy the airport’s gifts.

Beginning on January 19 of this year, the Latvian national airline airBaltic will be offering a greater number of flights to the Belarusian capital city of Minsk. The increase from seven to 10 flights per week is possible thanks to partnership between airBaltic and the Belarusian national airline Belavia.

Riga City Council claims the LIVE RĪGA promotion campaign has brought many Russian tourists to Riga during the Christmas and New Year's Eve holidays, and calls it a success story.

Launching of international flights from Tartu airport was announced as the Event of Year 2009, according to a vote of local residents, and a certificate of recognition was handed to airBaltic in Tartu City Hall today. On July 3, airBaltic was the first airline to start international flights between Riga and the second largest city in Estonia offering convenient connections to destinations in Western Europe, Scandinavia, the CIS and the Mediterranean region.

Latvia’s national airline airBaltic is launching an Internet shop in December of this year – airBalticOutlet.com. Customers can purchase leading branded goods for lower prices, with delivery on board an airplane. The products include perfumery, cosmetics, accessories, sweets, and airBaltic and Latvian souvenirs.
