Riga Central Market
Regardless of whether you enjoy shopping or not, a visit to the Baltic's largest marketplace, opened in 1930, is definitely going to mark a most memorable experience. This vast bazaar houses hundreds of stalls located in five converted Zeppelin hangars dating from World War I. Each of the hangars specializes in a different category of fresh produce: meat, dairy, fish, grocery and greengrocery. Here you will find everything the Latvian farmers produce, from buckwheat honey to hemp butter, at the best price (open for bargaining). In the open area outside you are going to find stalls, canopies and shops selling articles made by local craftsmen, fresh flowers, cheap footwear and just about anything from bootleg brands to authentic luxury goods. A perfect place for unique gifts and weird things you won't find anywhere else.
