Latvian cuisine. There are two basic facts about the Latvian traditional cooking: first, it is based on local, usually home-grown products; second, it is high in calories. If you like this type of food, you may get a good taste of it in one of the somewhat Disneyland-ish outlets of "Lido". But there is also a new trend among the Latvian chefs to redefine what Latvian cuisine is all about. Some of the best representatives of this trend are the slow food restaurants "Kalku varti", "Vincents" and the restaurant of the "Hotel Bergs".
